Essential improvements

Skip intro videos

Rename .bik files in the installation folder[citation needed]
  1. Go to Intro in the installation folder.
  2. Delete or rename eidos.bik and startopia.bik

Patches

The 1.01 Patch updates the retail version of the game to the latest version.
The 1.01b Patch is merely an alternative to the 1.01 patch, in case you experience problems with it.
There is also the semi-official 1.02 Patch which requires either 1.01 or 1.01b to be installed already (it was created by a former Mucky Foot employee).

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/243040/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (243040) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
