Remove the video files[3]
|
- Go to
<path-to-game>\SwGame\Content\Movies.
- Rename or remove
Default_Startup.mp4 and Default_Startup_Loop.mp4.
Notes
- A game update will likely restore the files.
- The screen will be black while the main menu is being loaded, but overall there is a decrease in launch time.[4]

- The game engine may allow for manual configuration of the game via its variables. See the Unreal Engine 4 page for more details.
Enable low settings
|
Enable low settings[13]
|
- Go to the video settings and change any of the settings so that Graphics Quality is changed to
Custom.
- Select Graphics Quality (press Space ␣ on keyboard) and while it is set to
Custom press Esc (or B / Circle if using a controller). If done correctly, the value of Graphics Quality and all other settings should change to Low (or Off in the case of Anti-aliasing).
- Change one of the individual settings to another value, such as
Medium. This is necessary to allow the values on the other settings to take effect, as otherwise the game will still use their previous value.
- The easiest way of confirming whether the values have been applied correctly is to either check for either of the following:
- Anti-aliasing
Off results in noticeable aliasing in the game world.
- Shadow Quality
Low results in blocky character shadows in the game world, and the presence of dark eyes on the character in the Abilities and Customization menu screens.
Notes
- If Graphics Quality gets changed again the process must be repeated.

Disable anti-aliasing
|
Edit GameUserSettings.ini[14]
|
- Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\SwGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\
- Open
GameUserSettings.ini with Notepad.
- Find
sg.AntiAliasingQuality=3 at the very bottom under "ScalabilityGroups" and change it to 0.
- Available options are 3 (Epic), 2, 1 and 0 (Disabled). To disable it via the in-game settings, see Enable low settings.

Disable depth of field
Disable motion blur

|
Use Universal Unreal Engine 4 Console Unlocker[15]
|
- Use the Universal Unreal Engine 4 Console Unlocker to access the developer console of the game.
- Enter
r.DefaultFeature.MotionBlur 0.
Notes
- The in-game menu toggle only disables camera motion blur. However a bug may cause this setting to not work at all.[16]
- The console command disables both camera and object-based motion blur, the latter of which may not be as desirable (see screenshot comparison). To simply reduce the overall effect, the command
r.MotionBlur.Scale 0.3 can be used (default is 1).

Issues unresolved
Corrupt save game
- Users have reported issues where the save game can become corrupt if something affects the save process of the game, resulting in non-working saves and lost progress.[20]
|
Possible fix: Restore the backup save game[citation needed]
|
- Navigate to Save game data location.
- Create a copy of the whole save folder on another location so a backup is available.
- Rename or delete
SaveGame00.sav
- Rename
Backup00.sav to SaveGame00.sav
- Run the game and see if the backup save can be read.
