Essential improvements

Official patches

  • Patch 1.02 is the latest official version.
  • A hotfix for v1.00 and v1.02 exists to fix crashes in tactical combat mode, but it is incompatible with the unofficial Joker patch.

Unofficial patches

  • The Joker patch is the most commonly used unofficial patch, aimed at fixing bugs and compatibility with the Windows NT family of operating systems. It also bypasses the SafeDisc DRM, but retains the disc check.

Custom renderer

  • To resolve issues with frequent crashing and mouse sluggishness, a different renderer needs to be used. DxWnd and DDrawCompat can be used for this purpose.
