Key points

Updated version of PC re-release of game with more graphical options and fixed issues.

Only available through Steam and no update for those owning physical or DRM-free version.

Missing all Game Gear games from the GameCube and 2004 PC versions; use SADX Mod Installer.

Aspect ratio is locked to pillarboxed 4:3; use SADX Mod Installer.

The game may occasionally cap the frame rate at about 48 FPS instead of 60 FPS; SADX Mod Installer may help.

All versions require Steam DRM.

A faithful higher resolution desktop icon can be downloaded from the Files section.

Essential improvements

SADX Mod Installer

Allows to set resolution, frame rate settings, HUD scaling etc. before installation (in custom mode), and auto-detects desktop resolution.

Supports Steam, 2004, DC Collection/Remastered and can also be installed over BetterSADX.

Has multiple mod presets (Dreamcast, Enhanced SADX, Original), a guide mode for selecting individual mods to install, and a custom mode for full control

Downgrades the game to the 2004 port. Most of the new tweaks from the 2011 and Steam ports are removed/rendered inaccessible for this reason.

Issues fixed

Low FPS

If the FPS is stuck in the 40s and won't rise to 60, disable the in-game FXAA and Vsync and instead, force them through the Nvidia/Radeon control panel.

Sky Chase too difficult

Installing BetterSADX reverts the game to the 2004 release, but is missing several bugfix mods. One such mod removes Sky Chase's dependence on a 640x480 resolution, which is fixed in the 2011 and Steam releases but not the 2004 release.^[2]

Add the mod Sonic Adventure DX: Fixed Edition to the mod loader^[3]
SADX:FE is included with the SADX Mod Installer.
