Version differences

The Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition contains all DLC rebalanced and properly integrated into the game's story, updated graphics and various additional enhancements.^[4]

Sleeping Dogs Collection is a complete edition with all DLC.^[5] The free High Resolution Texture Pack is a separate download.

The Japanese version is a Low Violence Version and only includes Japanese and English languages. Japanese is not available for purchases in other countries.

The German version is a Low Violence Version and only includes the German language.

Issues unresolved

HkShip.exe has stopped working

Run the game in compatibility mode^{[citation needed]}

Can't choose custom refresh rate

When selecting resolution in video options, only pre-made presets are available, user can't choose to change refresh rate, which often force players to play in windowed mode.

Can't force game into fullscreen

The game starts in windowed mode and no matter what you do it just stays in windowed mode. Alt+↵ Enter doesn't work and neither does setting the video option to fullscreen.

Close TeamViewer if installed^{[citation needed]}

Disable TeamViewer's QuickConnect^{[citation needed]}
Go into TeamViewer's advanced settings. Disable the "QuickConnect" feature.

Close (or stop) Actual Multiple Monitors, or other multi-monitor software if installed^{[citation needed]}

Change monitor's refresh rate to the native one^{[citation needed]}

Issues fixed

Constantly scrolling up

Caused by controller drivers.

Disable Human Interface Devices^[8]

This specific fix is only for use when playing using keyboard and mouse.

Go into your Device Manager > Human Interface Devices
Right click on any that say HID-compiant consumer control device, for example, USB Input Device, USB Game Controller, HID-compliant device.
Right click and disable every device apart from your keyboard.

FPS issues and/or stuttering

The game may lag or stutter on high-end systems, particularly during day time.^[9]

Run the game in windowed mode^{[citation needed]}
Start the game and enable windowed mode. See Borderless fullscreen windowed to make the game borderless.

Black screen during cutscenes

Reinstall the game^[10]

Disable 'Cheat' DLC

DLC can be selectively disabled from the game's properties in the Steam client.^[11]

Game features DLC that give unbalanced bonuses for player. Some people may not realize this when buying DLC packs.

Instructions^{[citation needed]}

The following DLC may be considered 'cheats' and can be disabled at the player's discretion:
- Gold Top Dog (Gives you 8,250 Triad, 4,500 Cop and 4,500 extra Face Experience Points)
- Silver Top Dog (Gives you 8,250 Triad, 4,500 Cop and 4,500 extra Face Experience Points)
- Red Envelope Pack (Distributes 20 envelopes that have $50k each throughout Hong Kong)
- High Roller Pack (Gives Tuono vehicle, High Roller outfit, and an extra $200k)

Notes

DLC can't be removed from save file. A new game must be started in order for the DLC to not be applied.

To grant the DLC bonus to any save game simply re-enable that DLC and load the save game.

Can't remap to arrow keys

Can be remapped to number pad arrow keys, but not standard arrow keys.^[12]

Enable arrow key movement^{[citation needed]}

Install AutoHotkey.
After installation, when prompted to create the first script, choose Yes in the dialog box.
Delete everything from the Notepad file which opens and paste the following:

up::w
down::s
left::a
right::d

Numpad5::down
Numpad4::left
Numpad6::right

NumpadAdd::Enter
NumpadEnter::Backspace

Right click on the AutoHotkey icon in the notification tray and choose Reload script. In the future if you want to use the arrow keys in the game just start the AutoHotkey application and you are done.

Low performance on Nvidia cards

The game is optimized for AMD cards, and thus Nvidia cards can post low FPS for the auto detected settings.

Improve frame rate^{[citation needed]}
Setting "Enable Quality Anti-Aliasing" and "Screen Space Ambient Occlusion" to Normal should noticeably improve FPS.
