Saints Row: The Third Remastered is a third-person open world action shooter in the Saints Row series, and a remastered version of the 2011 game Saints Row: The Third. The remaster was developed by Sperasoft and published by Deep Silver, featuring an entirely new lighting engine with physical-based rendering, HDR rendering, and global illumination, as well as reworked and improved vehicles, completely remade weapons, reworked visual effects, higher resolution textures, improved materials and much more.[1]

The version includes all DLCs from the original game with the exception of Team Fortress 2 Masks, Bloodsucker Pack (but this one can be restored), and Unlockable Pack which are not included and cannot be purchased.[2][3]

The game was released for Windows on the Epic Games Store on May 22, 2020 with an announced release for Steam in 2021.[4] While the original 2011 game eventually received a Linux port in 2016, as of May 20, 2020 no such support for the remastered version has been announced.[5]

Initial reactions to the announced remaster on social media were lukewarm, with some dismissing it as merely being the original game with a few shader filters applied.[6] On the day of release as the review embargo dropped and more information about the remaster surfaced it was revealed that much of the graphics engine and resources had been recreated or enhanced. Digital Foundry described the remaster as "an exceptional effort" that "addresses all of [the performance] issues" of the original game and "radically updates all visual aspects of the presentation" and was "one of the best remasters" they have seen.[7]

Remove <path-to-game>\videos\startup_logos.bik[10]
Use the config parameter[10]
  1. Open <path-to-game>\display.ini in a text editor.
  2. Add the following to the bottom of the file:
SkipIntroVideo = true
Changing the display settings will overwrite the file and remove the parameter.

Frame rate (FPS)

On some systems, the game may impose bizarre frame rate caps such as 15 or 22 FPS in cutscenes and 50 or 67 FPS in gameplay. This bug appears to happen only on systems running the Windows 10 2004 update or later.
Fix unusual FPS caps[citation needed]

Externally impose a framerate cap of 120 or less. Cutscenes will now run at 30, and gameplay will run up 120.

Cutscenes are capped at 30 FPS, and some physics elements are capped at 60 FPS; use Cheat Engine below to fix.
In fullscreen mode, the game may switch to a 60 Hz refresh rate on startup; see Game uses incorrect refresh rate to fix.
Remove multiple FPS Caps[citation needed]
This process must be performed each time the game is launched to take effect.
  1. Download and run Cheat Engine. Go to the main menu.
  2. Set Executable, Writable and CopyOnWrite to Don't Care and memory scan option to SRTTR.exe.
  3. Disable the Fast Scan option and search for the value 0.00833333 as a float in rounded (extreme) mode. Select all values.
  4. Disable the Fast Scan option and search for the value 0.03333333 as a float in rounded (extreme) mode. Select all values.
  5. Disable the Fast Scan option and search for the value 0.01666666 as a float in rounded (extreme) mode. Select all values.
  6. Disable the Fast Scan option and search for the value 0.00833333 as a double in rounded (extreme) mode. Select all values.
  7. Disable the Fast Scan option and search for the value 0.01666666 as a double in rounded (extreme) mode. Select all values.
  8. Set the all the values to (1/FPS), see below for example:
    • 0.00694444 for 144 FPS (floats).
    • 0.00277777 for 360 FPS (floats).
    • 0.00256410 for 390 FPS (floats).
    • 0.0069444444444444 for 144 FPS (doubles).
    • 0.0027777777777777 for 360 FPS (doubles).
    • 0.0025641025641026 for 390 FPS (doubles).
A few contextual 30 FPS animation caps in cutscene to gameplay transition cannot be removed with this method without crashing and they will appear as if they're heavily stuttering at higher rates; especially if output frame rate is not divisible by 30.
Heavily recommend using the in-game triple buffered v-sync for improved frame pacing due to the implementation of FPS caps, at the cost of slightly increased input latency for lower frame rate values.
If this method caused a crash past the title screen, try only selecting values closer to the actual 1/FPS value rather all the given values (e.g. 0.01666666754 instead of 0.01666666567)
Cap FPS with SpecialK
Can provide better frame pacing compared to driver or rivatuner capping when driving.[11]
Can normalize the bizarre frame rate caps (22 FPS in cutscenes, etc) even with frame limiter off.[12]
Will unlock cutscene framerate to value specified if "Sleepless Render Thread" is checked - may cause issues as described above.

Use SpecialK to cap framerate as usual to desired value. (120fps maximum)

Issues fixed

Game is too dark in HDR mode

The game seems to have a bug with its brightness calibration slider, causing the value to be incorrect by 50 units.
Name[10]
  1. Open the Display settings of the game and enter the HDR Settings subpage.
  2. Change the Brightness down to 90 and then back up to 100 again.
  3. The game should now be much brighter as a result.
Using the Restore to defaults option will show the brightness slider as 100, but in reality set the brightness to 50. This discrepancy of 50 units can be confirmed by setting the slider to 40 and then exiting and entering the display settings at which point the slider will show 90 instead. Setting the value to 100 manually and then entering and exiting the display settings will cause the value to be off the screen as it is shown to be on 150 instead.

Game uses incorrect refresh rate

The game may default to the lowest supported refresh rate, ignoring the setting in the configuration file.
Override refresh rate set by game[16]
Some users have reported that this mod introduces visual glitches and performance issues.
  1. Download the latest release of 3Dmigoto (3Dmigoto-XX.zip).
  2. Go into the 3Dmigoto archive, and go into x64\.
  3. Copy the contents to the installation folder.
  4. Open d3dx.ini found in the installation folder.
  5. Change hunting=1 to hunting=0.
  6. Change ;refresh_rate=60 to desired hertz (e.g. refresh_rate=120 sans the ;).

Restore Bloodsucker ability

Bloodsucker Pack has not been added to the Remastered version, so there is no Bloodsucker ability, but code responsible for this DLC are still in remaster files and ability can be restored.
Modify game tables[17]
  1. Download and install .NET 5.0 Runtime.
  2. Download sr-tools.exe and move it to some random folder.
  3. Go into <path-to-game>/Cache and search for misc_tables.vpp_pc.
  4. Copy misc_tables.vpp_pc into the same folder, that sr-tools.exe is in.
  5. Open this folder in CMD and execute this command:
    sr-tools vpp unpack misc_tables.vpp_pc
  6. Go into newly created misc_tables folder and find unlockables.xtbl.
  7. Open unlockables.xtbl with text editor and right under root and Table paste the following code:
