Issues fixed

Audio Latency

Using your motherboard's onboard sound rather than an internal sound card is recommended for reduced latency
Rocksmith's audio latency is highly dependent on values set within the Rocksmith.ini. Modifying this file is almost always necessary for an optimal experience.
To adjust audio latency[citation needed]
  1. Open <path-to-game>\Rocksmith.ini
  2. Modify the following values:
  • LatencyBuffer=1 (Computers that meet recommended requirements should have no performance issues with this. This can go up if performance is an issue, although MaxOutputBufferSize is a better compromise)
  • ExclusiveMode=1 (This can also be set in-game with the "Audio Exclusivity" setting)
  • ForceWDM=0 & ForceDirectXSink=0 (These are only necessary if your computer will not start the game otherwise)
  • MaxOutputBufferSize=<256 (This can be any multiple of 8. Lower by increments of 8 until audio starts to crackle or skip. Reasonable performance can be had around 136 - 192. Values of 128 or lower are possible on computers with very fast CPUs.)
There are also a few settings outside of Rocksmith that need to be adjusted to allow Audio Exclusivity and other settings to work properly.
To set optimal audio settings in Windows[citation needed]
  1. Open Windows Sound Settings
  2. Go to the "Recording" Tab
  3. Check the properties for "Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter"
  4. Go to the "Advanced" tab in the Properties window
  5. Change the following settings:
  • Set Default Format to "1 channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)"

Notes

Check "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" & "Give exclusive mode applications priority"

Program Fails to Launch (Crash to Desktop)

If you experience Rocksmith crashing while launching, try the following:
To Fix CTD[citation needed]
  1. Open Device Manager
  2. Open the "Sound, video and game controllers" tree
  3. Check to make sure "Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter" is there. If not, try unplugging the cord and reinserting it into a fully powered USB port.
  4. Check for other or unknown audio devices and try disabling them. I found "Audials Sound Capturing" device created by the software Audials 10 to cause incompatibility.
  5. Unplug unnecessary USB game controllers.
  6. Make sure you are running the game as an administrator, I had crashes without any extra sound devices enabled, and not running as an administrator ended up being the culprit.

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/205190/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (205190) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
