Difference between revisions of "Red Faction: Guerrilla"

From PCGamingWiki, the wiki about fixing PC games
(Added CTG as the engine)
(Reverted good faith contribution. RF:G's engine is called Geo-Mod 2.0. CTG is not, and has never been a name of an engine powering this game.)

VR support

Issues unresolved

Scrolling the map with the keyboard is very fast or very slow

Because the speed of the map scroll movement with the keyboard is calculated depending on the frame rate, it happens that if the frame rate is high (+60), the map scroll is very fast and if the frame rate is very low (-60) the scroll of the map will be quite slow

Issues fixed

Game doesn't start/can't save

Check GFWL sign-in problems[citation needed]

Can't change resolution

Launch the game with -w XXXX -h XXXX parameters[5]
Launch the game in DirectX 9 mode with -nod3d10 parameter[citation needed]
Hex edit config file[6]
Hex editing skills are required for the operation.
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open rfg_display_options.rfgs_pc with a hex editor such as HxD.
  3. Look at offset 0x001. There's where width is stored.
  4. Height can be found at offset 0x005.
  5. Change them accordingly. Refer to this table for common little endian values.

Notes

Additional information regarding hex editing can be found here.

Performance issues

Use the -nod3d10 command line argument and launch the game in DX9 mode[citation needed]

Notes

The game might actually perform worse on certain systems.
Ambient Occlusion and Sun Shafts will not be available. The menus will only render at around 50 FPS.
Disable the Ambient Occlusion in the in-game settings[citation needed]

Random game crashes

Unplug any connected controllers[citation needed]
The game might crash on certain system configurations if you unplug a controller during the game.
