Issues fixed

Video settings won't stick

On later versions of Windows, video settings might reset back to defaults after closing and relaunching the game.
Change compatibility settings[6]
  1. Go to the installation folder.
  2. Set the file rf4_launcher.exe to compatibility mode with Windows XP (Service Pack 3).

Game crashing on "New Game" (Steam version)

Broken by a recent Steam update.
Nordic Games (current owners of Red Faction) have released a beta patch fixing the issue.
Opt into the public beta branch[7]
  1. Right-click Red Faction: Armageddon in your Steam Library and select Properties.
  2. On the Betas tab, select the publicbeta branch, and allow the patch to download.

  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/55110/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (55110) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
