Prey: Typhon Hunter is a companion item to Prey (2017) granted to owners of the Deluxe Edition or the Mooncrash DLC of that game. It includes a basic hide-and-seek styled multiplayer mode (the so called Typhon Hunter mode) that pitches five players (or bots) against one human player, as well as a VR only singleplayer story mode (TranStar VR) set up as three different "escape room" scenarios. The game was developed by Arkane Studios and published Bethesda Softworks.

On December 11, 2018 the game was released on Steam, with a message on the store page that VR support for the multiplayer mode would be available in early 2019.[2] Almost a year later on November 12, 2019 the first update was released for the game which added the advertised multiplayer VR support.[3] Despite the release of the VR mode, in 2020 the store page still states its planned availability for early 2019.[4] A second update was released on July 16, 2020 that removed the Denuvo Anti-Tamper DRM of the game.[5]

Due to the low number of players in 2020,[6] it is almost impossible to play the multiplayer mode of the game except with other premade players or with bots. Playing with bots always forces the player to take control of the single human of the mode.
