Version differences

PUBG Mobile can be played on Windows using the Game Buddy, an Android OS emulator that specifically targets the game and, in fact was actually made by the same developer who created the mobile edition of the game, Tencent Games. Some prefer the mobile version over the original PC version due to being free to play and far less demanding.

Multi-monitor

This is a safe .ini edit to make and will not result in a ban. Clarified by RoboDanjal on Discord (PUBG Dev): The statement is that any changes that provide an unfair advantage are not allowed.
Set resolution manually[4]
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open GameUserSettings.ini.
  3. Change ResolutionSizeX= and ResolutionSizeY= to the desired multi-monitor resolution.
  4. Run the game in windowed mode only.

High frame rate

Change FPS cap[5]
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open GameUserSettings.ini.
  3. Change InGameFrameRateLimitType=Unlimited to InGameFrameRateLimitType=Customizable and change the fps limitter InGameCustomFrameRateLimit=60.000000 to your liking (e.g. InGameCustomFrameRateLimit=144.000000).

Issues fixed

Sub-par performance with Nvidia graphics cards

Force on optimal settings in Nvidia Control Panel
  1. In Nvidia Control Panel, go to Manage 3D settings and open the Program Settings tab.
  2. If not already available, create a profile for the PUBG executable.
  3. For the PUBG profile, change Threaded Optimization from Auto to On.
  4. Change Preferred refresh rate from Application-controlled to Highest available.
  5. Change Power management mode from Optimal power to Prefer maximum performance.
  6. Change Texture filtering - Quality from Quality to High performance.
In the Nvidia Control Panel go to Configure Surround, PhysX
  1. Change PhysX settings from Auto-select to your GPU Geforce "GTX" or "RTX" (depending on your GPU).

Stuttering and low FPS

Disable "Control Flow Guard" in Windows Defender for PUBG[7]

Use this instruction and choose PUBG executable. Don't turn off CFG globally - it's a major security risk.

Disable "Client Replay" and "Kill Cam" PUBG

Launch PUBG, go to "Settings" -> "Gameplay" -> and disable both "Replay" (see information to the right that it can affect client performance) and "Death Cam".

Downside for disabling "Replay" is none of your previous games will be stored on your PC for playing back but it won't take up additional space on your drive and for lower end PC's it will not affect performance anymore once disabled.

Downside for disabling "Death Cam" is you won't get the kill cam perspective of the enemy that killed you at the end of the game, instead you can can only spectate the enemy player or quit back to lobby.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/578080/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (578080) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
