Version differences

This standard version is a PlayStation 2 port. It uses StarForce DRM and is only playable on Windows-7 and later with WIFIDarthMaul's fix (but on Windows-7 the videogame work with crack by RELOADED) which fully removes the DRM and certain registry dependencies [author this full crack - KRBDZSKL from torrent-forum "Rutracker"].
The Gamer's Edition is an enhanced, DRM-free PC port featuring all the visual features from the Xbox 360 version such as higher quality textures and 3D models.

AuToMaNiAk005 and charliebrown7195's fix

Issues fixed

King Kong not properly installed

Instructions[5]
Steam Deck (Linux Proton)[6]
Alternative
  • Install registry fix (this removes InstallPath registry dependency).

"No BigFile specified as First .exe Argument" error

Use the /B /TX /lang:%s /tex:%d /spg:%d KingKongTheGame.bf command line argument or launch the game using CheckApplication.exe[7]

Game breaking bugs at high framerates

High framerates will cause some enemies to freeze, some enemy attacks will not be triggered, NPC scripting will break in certain areas, it will break the screen when the player takes damage and King Kong will not be able to lift pillars off blocked doors preventing further progress.
Instructions
  • Set DirectX version to DirectX 9.0 and Refresh rate to 60 Hz using SettingsApplication.exe. Checking Dualcore System is also recommended for improved performance.
Alternative (DirectX 8.1 mode only)
  • Use RivaTuner Statistics Server to limit framerate to 60 FPS.

Notes

  1. This version of StarForce DRM does not work on Windows 8.1, Windows 10, or Windows 11.[1][2] For supported versions of Windows the StarForce driver may need to be updated manually using SFUPDATE.
  2. When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).

Although there is indeed a vibration setting in the menu, even with said option activated neither my Xbox 360 controller nor my DirectInput controller rumbled.
