PUBG Lite is a free-to-play, online multiplayer battle royale FPS game developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole.
It is adapted from the original Playerunknown's Battlegrounds using the same Unreal Engine 4. It allows players to experience the original PlayerUnkown's Battlegrounds for free even with low spec PCs that are incapable of running the original game.
PUBG Lite also initially given name as Project Thai released on January 24, 2019, as a closed beta only in Thailand. After a few weeks, the game was made available in nine southeast countries with more coming in the future. The game started with two of PUBG's classic maps: Erangel and Miramar. Much more content was released later on with regular updates every two weeks.
As of June 2020, the game is in an open beta state and is available in over a hundred different countries along with all four the classic PUBG maps. The game is available to play for free but is not being regularly updated except for the addition of new Item-Crates.[1] Official support for the game ended on April 16, 2020 with a final content updateas stated in the developer letter.[2][3]
