PCGamingWiki:Free games

From PCGamingWiki, the wiki about fixing PC games
Revision as of 21:42, 26 September 2012 by Andytizer (talk | contribs)

It is vital for PCGamingWiki to be a useful resource that keeps up to date with the latest releases. We need articles about the newest games at the time they are needed most - on the first week of release.

If new games aren't represented on the site, PCGamingWiki won't be seen as the place to write up PC game fixes. Without up to date articles, the wiki will decline, and the dream of having every PC game fixed won't become a reality.

The proposition

In exchange for a completed article on Day 1 of a game's release (with daily updates over the course of that week), PCGamingWiki will either provide free review code for the game, or reimburse the writer out of pocket. Day 1 is defined as the first 24hrs of a game's release in its first territory.

Sometimes developers and publishers will provide review code, but the majority of time, the cost of the new games will be paid out of Andytizer's pocket. Therefore there is a strict policy on who will be able to earn these review codes.

Job description

Person will:

  • Complete article on Day 1 with as much information as possible from the Sample article.
  • Take ownership of the article, writing technical details, and bugs, fixes and workarounds. Continually support that article for a period of 5 days, updating the article with relevant information at least once a day.
  • Publicise the article on relevant forums.

Person specification

  • Show evidence of making high quality contributions to PCGamingWiki in the past.
  • Be in regular contact with Andytizer.

Review process

  • Eligible reviewers who meet the person specification can submit a request for review code of any new game to Andytizer.
  • Requests should be made at least 5 days before the release of the game.
  • Reviewer will EITHER receive a review code for the game, OR will be reimbursed for the cost of the game after 5 days if the article support is satisfactory. This depends on whether review code can be sourced from the developer/publisher.
  • Reviewer MUST complete the article within 24hrs of the game first going live in the first territory (for example, 24hrs from the US release of a game). This involves:
    • Completing as much of the Sample Article as possible, including filling out all the templates and tables.
    • Researching and listing as many issues and fixes as possible on forums, FAQs and support lines.
  • Reviewer MUST maintain the article and keep it up to date over the next 5 days.
