PCGamingWiki:FAQ

From PCGamingWiki, the wiki about fixing PC games
Revision as of 14:17, 3 November 2019 by Aemony (talk | contribs) (added How do I connect my Steam account to my existing SSO account)

Why can't I create a page or upload an image?

Due to spamming behaviour, new user accounts must make 3 edits to existing pages and wait 6 hours before they can create a new page or upload a new file. If you would like to create a new page, please come onto our Discord server and ask an existing member to create one for you so that you can edit it.

PCGamingWiki SSO

PCGamingWiki have transitioned over to using a single sign-on (SSO) solution to bridge the wiki and community sites and accounts. This means instead of having to separate accounts with two separate passwords (and potentially usernames), your username and password is now shared between both sites through this shared account.

If you do not already have an SSO account you will have to create one here. Note that email verification is required, so be sure to type the mail address correctly!

  • The new SSO account will automatically link up with your existing account(s) on either site if the specified mail address matches an existing account.
  • If you did not have an account previously on either of the sites, a new profile will be created when you sign in to the site using the PCGamingWiki SSO account.

Please note that the verification mail will be sent from account@pcgamingwiki.com and might arrive to the junk folder of your mailbox, so if you have not received the mail after a minute or two be sure to check that folder out as well.

I already have an account to the wiki and/or community site(s). Do I still need to sign up for an SSO account?

Yes, if you do not already have an SSO account you will have to create one. Note that the ability to create an SSO account have been available for a few months now during its testing phase, so some users might already have an SSO account.

I prefer to sign in using my old account. Is this still possible?

No, this is no longer possible as that functionality have been disabled. The new SSO account will automatically link up with your existing account(s) on either site if the specified mail address matches an existing account.

I created a SSO account but I am unable to access my old account through it on one (or both) of the sites.

This is usually due to some data not correlating properly between the old and new accounts. Please contact Andytizer#6342 on the PCGamingWiki Discord for further help with resolving the issue.

How do I connect my Steam account to my existing SSO account?

Please sign in to the Federated Identities page of the PCGamingWiki SSO site and click on Add, which will take you to the Steam Community OpenID login page where you will finalize the link.

I would like to change the mail address, name, or password for my SSO account.

Please sign in to the PCGamingWiki SSO site where those options are available.

The verification mail did not arrive in time. How do I generate a new verification link?

Please use the Forgot Password? option on the PCGamingWiki SSO site and change password of your account and in the process you will get a new verification mail as well.
