Issues fixed

Settings aren't saved (Steam)

The game saves its settings in the Windows registry. The keys are not created by default and need to be created by you. Once created you can edit the settings from the launcher and they will be saved.

Add keys to the registry[1]
  1. Create a new temporary text file anywhere you would like.
  2. Name it nosferatu.reg
  3. Copy the following lines into it:
  4. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Idol FX]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Idol FX\Nosferatu]
    "Adapter"="0"
    "TextureQuality"="32"
    "TextureFiltering"="2"
    "AntiAlias"="0"
    "LevelGeometry"="2"
    "LevelTextures"="2"
    "ParticleDetail"="2"
    "SoundEnabled"="1"
    "Width"="1280"
    "Height"="960"
    "Depth"="32"

  5. Save your file and then run it to add the keys to your registry.
  6. Run the game from <path-to-game>\start.exe or else the default settings will be used.

Notes

Launching the game from start.exe will not grant you any trading cards. It is recommended to launch the game from Steam and leave the game idle in the background for 1 hour to receive your 3 cards.
The fix has not been tested on 32 bit operating systems. It may not work or may need to be applied differently.

Notes

  1. Applications writing to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE will be redirected to other locations based on various criterias, see the glossary page for more details.
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/283290/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (283290) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
  3. When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
