Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit is a racing game developed by EA Seattle and published by Electronic Arts. The third entry in the Need for Speed franchise, III: Hot Pursuit allows players to race several sports cars around nine tracks, with a separate "Hot Pursuit" mode for police chases that allows players to be chased by the cops as a racer or, for the first time in the series, be a cop to shut down other racers. The game was released on September 30, 1998.

The Need For Speed III Modern Patch allows to install and run the game on modern systems.

Issues fixed

Installing on 64-bit versions of Windows

Original installer doesn't work on 64-bit systems.
Fan-made patch[citation needed]

Notes

Doesn't need an installer and works on any Windows OS.
Fan-made installer[citation needed]
  1. To install on 64-bit systems, use this fan-made installer. It supports multiple languages and it has necessary compatibility fixes already implemented. The fan-made installer will automatically set the language to German. After installation, follow these instructions to change the language.
  2. Go to the installation folder.
  3. Open install.win in a text editor such as Notepad.
  4. Change the language displayed in the first line to one of the five languages mentioned in the file (i.e. English, German, French, Spanish, or Italian). The language must be typed in all lowercase letters.
  5. Save the file and play the game. It should now be in your desired language.

Notes

Adds add-on vehicles and street vehicles to the game menu.
