  1. Install the GrayFace MM8 Patch.
  2. Run the game to generate mm8.ini.
  3. Open <path-to-game>\mm8.ini.
  4. Change NoIntro=0 to NoIntro=1.
  5. Save your changes. The game will now go directly to the main menu.

Play without the CD

Enable NoCD setting[citation needed]
  1. Install the GrayFace MM8 Patch.
  2. Run the game to generate mm8.ini.
  3. Open <path-to-game>\mm8.ini and ensure NoCD= is set to NoCD=1.
  4. This disables CD music; to use MP3 music instead see No music (GrayFace MM8 Patch).

Fix audio stuttering

Allow the game to use more threads for audio
  1. Install the GrayFace MM8 Patch.
  2. Set MM8.exe to run in compatibility mode for Windows 7.

Notes

This fixes audio stuttering during load screens when music is playing/dialog is playing, and fixes the audio lag during Arcomage.

No music (GrayFace MM8 Patch)

Enable MP3 playback (digital distribution versions)[citation needed]
  1. Go to the installation folder.
  2. Edit mm8.ini
  3. Change PlayMP3=0 to PlayMP3=1
  4. Save your changes. The music will now play in-game.
Rip the CD tracks (retail)[citation needed]
  1. Rip the Play disc music tracks in MP3 format.
  2. Rename them to 2.mp3 through 15.mp3.
  3. Make a new folder in the installation folder called Music and put the MP3s there.
  4. Go to the installation folder.
  5. Edit mm8.ini
  6. Change PlayMP3=0 to PlayMP3=1
  7. Save your changes. The music will now play in-game.
