Issues unresolved

White screen/crash on startup

Some users are currently reporting a neverending white screen, black screen, and/or crash upon launching the game.[1]
Early tests indicate that this crash occurs in Exclusive Fullscreen mode, especially with certain refresh rates such as 30 Hz interlaced.[2]
Play in Windowed or Borderless mode[2]
  1. Navigate to the Configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open mwcxd.ini with a text editor (for example, Notepad).
  3. Find Mode and set the number value to 1 (Windowed mode) or 2 (Borderless Fullscreen mode).
  4. Save and close the file.

Notes

This tweak was tested using the GOG release, and methods/results may vary for other versions of the game.
The game will also enter windowed mode if the key combination Alt+↵ Enter is pressed before the window locks up and stops responding.[2] However, this method is less reliable than an INI tweak.
