Optional fix - Use Ultimate ASI Loader to apply Steam006's PC Fix on top of DXVK
|
- Both mods can be applied simultaneously despite sharing the same DLL name by using Ultimate ASI loader. Additionally, other mods that use ASI files can also be loaded in from the plugins folder created for this fix.
- Create a folder named
plugins in the same directory as the game's executable.
- Download Steam006's PC Fix.
- place the
Metal_Gear_Rising_Revengeance_PCFix.asi and Metal_Gear_Rising_Revengeance_PCFix.ini files from Steam006's PC Fix into the plugins folder.
- rename Steam006's PC Fix's
d3d9.dll to d3d9Hooked.asi, and move the renamed ASI file to the plugins folder.
- Download the dinput8.dll for Ultimate ASI loader.
- Place the dinput8.dll in the same directory as the game's executable, but outside of the plugins folder.

- The game uses a fixed path for its data instead of using the standard Windows variables, if the
C: drive is missing or there isn't a Documents folder inside the user folder, the game will not be able to save and will crash.[4] This also means that Steam Cloud won't work correctly if the Documents folder is in a drive other than C: (Steam Cloud will sync the save in the correct drive, but the game will ignore this save and create a new one in the C: drive instead).[5] Possible workarounds include manually creating an empty Documents folder or using symbolic link. The latter allows to keep Steam Cloud working while also having the user folder in a drive other than C:.

Approx. 954 MB available. Settings will sync too, except graphics settings. Steam Cloud will not sync any files if the system doesn't have a C: drive.[6] Also, if a C: drive exists but your Documents folder has been moved to a different drive (e.g., D:), Steam Cloud will sync the folder in the correct drive, but the game will insist on saving and loading from the C: drive, meaning that Steam Cloud will still not work. Your Documents folder needs to be in the C: drive in order for Steam Cloud to work. |
Video
A fixed 0.016666 (double) delta time exists in the memory taken by the main executable, but it'll only affect basic movement. Jumping or anything physics related along with cut-scenes will remain sped up. Use Cheat Table by IPG Xapek to allow the entire game to be slowed down by a certain amount and use the FPS fix and the raw mouse mods to get it up to full speed by setting a new FPS limit (for example, set 144 FPS or 300 FPS as the cap, then inject the cheat table and select Freeze All and set it's Time value to 60 divided by the custom FPS value, i.e. 0.416666 or 0.2 respectively. Make sure to check the box for this value to prevent it from changing back in runtime). This isn't a perfect solution as some in-engine scripts still speed up and some combos may need to be entered slightly faster. DXVK cannot be used as well given the mods d3d9.dll implementation.[8]
- The only resolutions available are 800x600, 1280x720, 1366x768, 1680x1050, and 1920x1080. Aspect ratios other than 16:9 are anamorphic.
|
Set custom resolution[9]
|
- Download MGROverride.
- Type the desired resolution and click Patch.
- Close the tool.
- Set the resolution to 800x600 in the game options to enable custom resolution.
Notes
- It is not necessary to run the tool again, unless it is desired to remove the patch or change to another resolution.
- May cause minor graphical glitches, especially with the HUD.
- May be impossible to use the left stick for QTEs.
- The resolution must manually be set to 800x600 each time when running the game.
This is because the game tries to detect the correct resolution for the monitor at startup.
|
Remove noise filter
Modified camera settings
- These mods disable some camera restrictions and leave the camera a little more calm and fixed.
They also make the player character centered on the screen, rather than aligned to the left.
Input
- The Konami Code can only be input with a controller.

Use this mod to restore the Japanese dub for cutscenes. In-game dialogues and voice lines will remain in English because of modding limitations. Ported from the Japanese PlayStation 3 version. Japanese audio for the DLC campaigns is currently not supported and thus remain in English. |

Issues fixed
Crash on launch (Windows)
- Even when the correct drive is present, the game might still crash due to
ntdll.dll as a faulty module.
- The game uses a fixed path for its data instead of using standard Windows variables. If the
C: drive is missing, the game will not be able to save and will crash.
Game runs at incorrect refresh rate
- The game doesn't follow the refresh rate set in Windows and defaults to a slower one.[13]
|
Override refresh rate with D3Dx[14]
|
- Download D3Dx by Chiri.
- Copy
d3d9.dll and d3dx.ini to <path-to-game>.
- Open
d3dx.ini.
- Change
refresh_rate=60 to desired refresh rate; e.g. refresh_rate=120.
|
|
Set screen refresh rate with Special K[15]
|
- Download SpecialK
- Extract and copy the file SpecialK32.dll to the installation directory of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
- Rename SpecialK32.dll to d3d9.dll in the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance directory
- Launch the game and close
- Open
<path-to-game>\d3d9.ini
- Change
RefreshRate=-1 to the proper value; e.g. RefreshRate=60 or use RefreshRate=0 for automatic detection.
- Change
EnableTextureMods=true to EnableTextureMods=false.
|
|
Use ForceFix
|
- Install recommended software and system updates, if for Windows 7, under Ideal Conditions from Steam Guide.
- Download version of ForceFix for your operating system from Steam Guide.
- Unpack the archive and launch ForceFix.
- For refresh rates above 60 Hz, set frequency under Custom tab and Apply.
Notes
- By default, the refresh rate will go back to normal once the program is closed.
You can change it by unchecking Restore on Close.

|
Disable fullscreen optimizations in Windows 10 and 11
|
- Right-click the game EXE file and click Properties.
- Click on the Compatibility tab.
- Tick Disable fullscreen optimizations.
- Click Apply and OK.
|
|
Use Custom Resolution Utility
|
- Download the latest version of CRU from here.
- Follow the instructions on the website on to disable unwanted display modes.
|
Crashes when changing display mode to fullscreen (Linux)
- On some Proton/Linux configurations, changing from windowed mode to fullscreen mode may crash.
This issue can be solved by editing the graphics settings file directly.
|
Edit graphics settings file
|
- Locate the
GraphicOption file in game's configuration path.
- Open the file with a hex editor.
- Each configuration option requires 4 bytes. The first byte of each 4 contains a configuration value.
Fullscreen/Windowed option is seventh, so you want to edit the byte at address 0x18 in hex (the twenty-fifth byte).
- Set the byte at address
0x18 to 1 for windowed mode or 0 for fullscreen mode.
