Issues unresolved

Entering the game's main menu screen (upon opening the game, entering a new multiplayer session, or exiting a multiplayer session) mutes your Recording Default Device.[1] To undo this,
  1. Open Sound settings
  2. Click Sound Control Panel on the right-hand side
  3. Select the Recording tab
  4. Click the Default Device
  5. Click Properties
  6. Select the Levels tab
  7. Click the unmute button

Another fix is to navigate to options, then to gameplay, and under online settings, change the hosting setting to 'none'. Any other setting than none, mutes the audio. Obviously this will effect playing online. However local co-op still works with this setting. If you want to play online then follow steps 1 thru 7, but those steps will need to be repeated each time you run the game.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/289690/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (289690) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.

  1. Anecdotally, this muted the author's microphone, and his friend's entire live stream. This may or may not be related to Windows 10 Update 20H2.
