Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is a singleplayer third-person action RPG game developed by Big Huge Games, remastered by KAIKO Games and published by THQ Nordic. The remaster is based on the original game Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and uses Big Huge Engine.

The game was released on September 8, 2020 and contains all DLCs of the original game, including weapons and armor packs. In comparison to the original game, changes have been made to loot generation, zone level calculation, and the level lock has been removed. Additionally, textures and lighting have been improved, an FOV slider and a new "Very Hard" difficulty have been added. While the original game supported surround sound, the remaster does not. A new expansion called "Fatesworn" is planned to be released in 2021.[1]

Issues unresolved

Game crashing

The game may crash on launch, loading or saving a game or starting a new game, resulting in the "Kingdoms of Amalut: Re-Reckoning has stopped working" error message.[7][8][9][10]

Performance issues

Several reports indicate that performance issues are present, even on hardware that is within the listed system requirements.[11][12][13][14][15][16]
Lowering the in-game graphics options may not result in significant performance improvement.

I can confirm this myself by comparing the original game to the remaster. The slight improvements of the graphics do not make sense together with the huge FPS drops and performance issues the game is suffering from currently. 270 FPS in one scene turned into 80FPS in the remaster for no apparent reason. Towns in particular are a huge drop in FPS and a GTX 1080 can't hold 60 FPS in the first small town of the game. This of course is a remaste of an 8 year old game but it just makes no sense as to why it performs this bad.
