Essential improvements

Skip intro videos

Use no-intro mod[4]
  1. Download the No-Intro Mod.
  2. Extract No-Intro.zip.
  3. Move the extracted "dropzone" directory with its contents to the installation directory: <path-to-game>.
  4. Add the following launch command-line arguments to the game (Rightlick JC3 in Steam -> Properties -> Launch Options):
    --vfs-fs dropzone --vfs-archive patch_win64 --vfs-archive archives_win64 --vfs-fs

Reduce Load Times

At startup the game spends quite some time connecting to Square Enix servers.
Cuts down initial loading time significantly, especially if paired with the above Skip intro videos fix.
Will prevent you from using online features in game such as leaderboards.
Prevent game from connecting with online servers[5]
  1. Block the executable file justcause3.exe from connecting to the internet in your Firewall settings. See here on how to set it up for Windows.
  2. Once the game opens select Play In Offline Mode.

Issues fixed

Resolution change causes the game to crash

Changing the resolution of the game from the in-game settings menu might cause the game to crash.[citation needed]
Manually edit the config[7]
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open Settings.json using any text editor.
  3. Adjust lines 2 and 3 to your desired resolution
    • "DisplayFullscreenWidth": 1920
    • "DisplayFullscreenHeight": 1080
  4. The game will now correctly run at your desired resolution without crashing..

Notes

Changing your resolution to anything higher than 1080p causes sub menu items to display in the wrong position on screen, functionality is still perfect however.
The provided samples are the default settings for the settings file.

Lock-on missiles not working

If using mouse and keyboard, lock-on missiles in vehicles might not work. Bug unpatched since launch.[citation needed]
Disable 'precision aim' Gear MOD and restart the game.[8]
  1. Go to the Gear MOD menu for weapons.
  2. Disable the Precision Aim MOD.
  3. Restart the game.
  4. The game will hopefully let missiles lock on.
Use an XInput controller.[9]
  1. Plug in or connect an XInput controller
  2. Start Steam Big Picture
  3. Launch Just Cause 3
  4. The game will hopefully let missiles lock on.

Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/225540/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (225540) may differ in some cases.
