Essential improvements

Make 100% Completion Possible

Because of two unpatched bugs, no more than 99.96% completion can be attained in the vanilla game. One of the 221 water towers does not actually exist, and the final optional sidequest - no matter which one it happens to be - does not reward the usual 3 Weapon and 3 Vehicle parts.
Use the 100% Completion mod[1]
  1. Download the 100% Completion mod, as well as the prerequisite World Location Settings mod if you don't have it.
  2. Place x_Jusupov_100percent.arc and x_Jusupov_100percent.tab (from the 100% mod), as well as x_worldbin.arc and x_worldbin.tab (from the WLS mod) into <path-to-game>\archives_win32.
  3. The next time you load the game, the missing water tower should now be in the correct position in Panau (X:18111, Y:15326), and the six missing boxes should be near the tower's base.

Issues fixed

AMD launch crash fix

AMD's graphics drivers codenamed Crimson are not compatible with Just Cause 2 Multiplayer. If you are using an AMD graphics card with Crimson drivers, and your game crashes almost immediately after launching.
Solutions here[citation needed]

Possible crash fix

Crashing issues observed with Decals on some Nvidia cards.[8]
Disable dual core optimizations for ASYNC10[9]
  1. Download Nvidia Profile Inspector.
  2. From the Profiles drop-down menu, select "Just Cause 2" profile.
  3. Click on "Show unknown settings from NVIDIA predefined profiles".
  4. Find option "ASYNC10_ENABLE" (Under "8 - Extra" section).
  5. Set it to "0x53850673 OFF - Disable dual core optimizations".
  6. Click on "Apply changes"
This should let you keep the "Decals" option enabled without crashes.
Significantly impacts performance, recommended only on faster machines.
Turn off 'decals' in video options menu[citation needed]
Turn off Steam overlay in the Steam game properties[citation needed]

Directx Error 3

Force graphics adapter[citation needed]
  1. Right click Just Cause 2 in your Steam Library and select its properties.
  2. Add /dxadapter=0 to the launch options and press OK.

Nvidia Optimus laptops use Intel IGP only

Force the dedicated GPU[10]
  1. Download Nvidia Profile Inspector.
  2. Open it and click the button to the right of "DRIVER VERSION".
  3. From the PROFILE menu, select JUST CAUSE 2.
  4. Scroll down the window until you find: "Shim Rendering Mode Options per application for Optimus".
  5. Click the text to the right, scroll to the top of the dropdown list, and select "SHIM_RENDERING_OPTIONS_DEFAULT_RENDERING_MODE"
  6. Click APPLY CHANGES in the top right-hand corner.
  7. Run your game

Notes

These changes may cause some Nvidia-specific advanced graphics choices (bokeh, gpu water) to become unavailable in Just Cause 2.

Slingshotting won´t give momentum

Enable V-Sync ingame OR lock the game fps to 60 manually.[citation needed]
