Demo

Three demos are available:
  • First one includes the tutorial missions and unfinished campaign Mission 6; available here.
  • Second one is just an update of the first demo; available here.
  • Third one includes the tutorial missions and first three campaign missions; available here.
    • This one has the CD music volume issue like the full game (even though there is no CD music), so it should be run in Windows XP compatibility mode.

Issues unresolved

Sound turning on/off during gameplay

Because of the changes in the way Windows handles audio mixing after Windows XP, all sound in-game will have the same volume as the CD music on Windows Vista and later, so when the game lowers CD music volume it also affects other sounds.
Use Windows XP compatibility mode[1]
  1. Right-click the game executable or shortcut and select Properties.
  2. Click Compatibility and turn on Run this program in compatibility mode for.
  3. Select Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
  4. Click OK.

Notes

This will make the CD music play at maximum volume constantly, but will not affect other sounds.
CD music can sometimes stop looping or get stuck.

Tutorial crash

At the end of the last tutorial mission, when it should go back to main menu, the game crashes.[1]

Issues fixed

Flickering textures

Textures may start to flicker when the game runs above 60 FPS on some systems.
Instructions[1]
  • Limit the framerate to 60 FPS using the GPU control panel or RivaTuner Statistics Server.
  • Alternatively force vsync if using a 60 Hz monitor.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/254900/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (254900) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
