Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced is a singleplayer and multiplayer open world action game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It is part of the Grand Theft Auto series.

The game is based on the Expanded and Enhanced version released in 2022 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, which in turns the enhanced port of the original game. In addition to the ray-traced shadows and reflections that were carried over from the console releases, the PC version also includes DLSS and FSR upscaler support.

It was released on March 4, 2025, and is available for free for owners of the original PC release.

  2. Launch CodeWalker.
  3. Locate the game's installation folder and select it.
  4. Open the menu by clicking the "<<" button

Transferring save game data from GTA V Legacy

As GTA V Enhanced uses an updated save format, conversion only works from Legacy to Enhanced.

Using the save transfer system

  1. Launch GTA V Legacy
  2. Enter Story Mode
  3. Open Pause Menu
  4. Go to Game tab
  5. Select Upload Save Game and follow on-screen instructions
  6. Launch GTA V Enhanced and repeat steps 2-4
  7. Select Download Save Game
All unlocked Story Mode achievements from GTA V Legacy are carried over.
Only one save can be transferred per account.[2]

Manual copying of save file

Progression in GTA V Legacy story mode can be transferred by copying the files in the save game data location from %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTAV\Profiles\<user-id> to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTAV Enhanced\Profiles\<user-id>.

Much quicker, doesn't require GTA V Legacy to be installed and enables carrying over multiple saves.
Skips additional conversion to the updated save format, which results in achievements not carrying over from GTA V Legacy, and may result in other issues.

Disable forced TAA while keeping RT enabled

Anti-aliasing options are restricted to TAA (or DLSS/DLAA and FSR) when ray tracing features are enabled.
Disable TAA (and switch to FXAA, SSAA or No AA) with RT enabled[6][7]

Switch to FXAA/no anti-aliasing:

  1. Disable DLSS/DLAA/FSR if it's enabled and turn on TAA, as well as enable and configure ray-tracing and quit the game.
  2. Go to Configuration file(s) location and open settings.xml with any text editor.
  3. Change <AAType value="x" /> from 2 (TAA) to 1 (FXAA) or 0 (OFF).
  4. Save and close the file.
Changing settings in the Graphics tab will revert anti-aliasing back to TAA.
This will produce noticeable dithering and RT noise on the image. Enabling SSAA and changing resolution scale to higher value will reduce these effect.

Enable SSAA (resolution scale) & adjust it's value:

  1. Change <ResScalingType value="x" /> from 0 (Off) to 1 (SSAA) to enable SSAA (values 2, 3 and 4 instead enable FSR, FSR 3 or DLSS/DLAA respectively).
  2. Adjust SSAA quality by changing <SamplingMode value="x" /> value (set to 4 for x1.25, 5 - x1.5, 6 - x1.75, 7 - x2.0 and 8 - x2.5).
  3. Save and close the file.
Higher resolution scale will increase performance impact, however.

Post-processing

The game has combined chromatic aberration and lens distortion effects always present at the edges of the screen.[8]
Setting the in-game depth of field option to off does not fully disable the effect.[8]
Setting the in-game motion blur slider to the minimum amount does not fully disable the effect.[8]
Use No Chromatic aberration & Lens distortion

Notes

This mod also removes the lens distortion and film grain effects.

DirectStorage

The game uses Version 1.2.2.[17]
It is possible to update to the latest version here.

OpenRPF

An alternative to OpenIV for the Legacy edition. Used to install mods with the usage of a "mods" folder.
Modifying the game files require version R30_dev48 of the CodeWalker tool.
The game requires the xinput1_4.dll ASI Loader file from Script Hook and the OpenRPF.asi plugin to allow loading of ASI mods and modified RPF files as their signature is removed when editing them. These modifications won't allow the game to boot into Online, so xinput1_4.dll must be removed to play Online. This will not remove any of the mods - merely the ASI Loader.
You also need to disable BattleEye in Rockstar Games Launcher settings or by using -nobattleye launch argument to prevent startup issues.

Modifications

Mods are safe to use in Story Mode, however, the games' anti-tamper solution will detect them and prohibit online-play until they are uninstalled (applies to all mods).[18]
Script Hook may be a prerequisite for some mods.

Restored Old Gen Assets

This mod restores various content, from map to props, UI, characters, weapons and vehicles models and textures from and based on the PS3 and X360 versions of the game.

Remastered Old Gen Minimap

This mod changes the colors of the radar/minimap to be the same as the PS3/X360 versions while still keeping the additional details (buildings, roads, etc.) from the current one.

Tested by running at the lowest graphics settings and resolution possible, and uncap the frame rate beyond 120 FPS. I've able to confirm that it's not tied to frame rate. Instead: it's tied to Windows 10/11's OS mouse sensitivity.
  11. Verified by User:Al2009man on 2025-03-04
The Xbox One/Series X versions make use of Impulse Triggers, however: it is not implemented in the PC version. This is because the PC version uses XInput 1.4 as opposed to Windows.Gaming.Input API.

Adaptive triggers aren't on par with the PS5 version both in terms of strength and consistency.
  13. Verified by User:Al2009man on 2025-03-04
The PS4/PS5 versions makes use of them, but it is missing in the PC version. This is done after conducting series of tests.
  14. Verified by User:SixelAlexiS on 2025-03-06
The game doesn't use audio to produce rumble and so it doesn't support haptic feedback (unlike the PS5 version). The rumble in this version is a mere on/off effect always at maximum strength. Both the PC and PS5 versions have been personally tested.
  15. Verified by User:Al2009man on 2025-03-04
Conducted a series of test between USB and Bluetooth mode, and using my physical ear to listen to the controller closely while performing in-game events. All it really does is make rumble-emulated noise and not audio-based haptics, even going to a desert area to see if it does haptics.
  16. Verified by User:Al2009man on 2025-03-03
Despite "Dolby Atmos support", it relies on Microsoft/Windows Spatial Sound API for it. This is confirmed straight from the official system requirements.
