Modify internal game files to remove intro files

Download OpenIV and install it. Launch OpenIV and select Windows under Grand Theft Auto V. Scroll down to x64a.rpf and open it. Inside x64a.rpf, navigate to movies, enable Edit mode and delete rockstar_logos.bik Go back to the GTA V folder, then navigate to the folder update and open update.rpf. Inside update.rpf, navigate to x64, movies and delete rockstar_logos.bik. Notes The game requires OpenIV.asi to allow loading of non-signed RPF files (signature is removed when editing them). Since asi mods require asi loader, it is detected by anti-cheat immediately, do not use this with GTA Online.[citation needed] Modding the archives outside mods folder, will force the user to use OpenIV.asi all the time to run the game.

Motion blur

Adding custom music

Adding Music[citation needed]

Go to the configuration file location. Open User Music. Add any desired tracks. Notes Only the WAV, MP3, WMA, M4A formats are supported. Some users have reported slower-loading textures when using the Self-Radio station. Suggested to be an issue when the CPU is already bottlenecking the game and transcoding the custom music bringing additional load to the CPU. Suggested to use 48KHz 16-bit signed WAV files (normal format and bitrate of the in-game radio) instead of MP3 files to avoid this issue.

Online characters can no longer be transferred from the console versions since March 6, 2017.

Unable to start game on laptops with Intel-AMD switchable graphics

In-game stock market malfunctioning when playing offline

When buying stock the money is always deducted from your in-game account but the stock isn't reliably added to your portfolio, effectively causing your money to vanish.

Some tips/workarounds to avoid this issue
Unknown if the cause of this issue has been fixed by a title update. Make sure to save your game before buying stock and check your portfolio after buying stock to ensure you actually received the stock you bought, reload the save if not.

Game stays in the background processes/fails to close itself while Logitech G Hub is running

No sound when using a Bluetooth headphone/ear buds

Turn them off and on again
Turn the headphone/ear buds off (ear buds usually need to be put in the charger to turn them off), wait for the game to switch to another audio device and turn the headphone/ear buds back on.

Game launches at weird resolutions, unable to change resolution in-game or by altering files

Override GTA V scaling settings[citation needed]
Open Nvidia Control Panel. Under Display in the left side menu, click on Adjust desktop size and position. Under 2. Apply the following settings:, tick the Override the scaling mode set by games and programs checkbox. Start the game.

Heavy game stutter/stutter in general

GTA V can only render up to a max of 188 FPS with stable performance and will cause stutter if it tries to render above this.^{[citation needed]}

Workaround: Set the refresh rate to 144 in the in-game graphics settings[citation needed]

All options for external frame rate capping are explained in the frame rate capping guide. Easiest option would be to use the NVidia/AMD Control panels.

ERR_GFX_D3D_INIT

Switch DirectX version[citation needed][dubious – discuss]
Go to the configuration file location. Open settings.xml with the text editor of choice. Find DX_Version and change the value to 0. Save the changes and run the game. You might need to force write protection on settings.xml if the value resets after launching the game.

ERR_GEN_ZLIB_2

The error message usually means corrupted data files.

Game does not open with "Grand Theft Auto V has Stopped Working" generic Windows error

The game makes it past the launcher. However, when the main game loads it crashes instantaneously leaving you with a black screen, or the Windows error prompt.

Unplug the Mayflash DolphinBar (if used) from the computer[citation needed]

Unplug USB-devices systematically[citation needed]
Unplug all of your USB-devices. Plug back in one of your USB-devices. Try launching the game to see if the crash has been solved. If not solved: repeat step 2 and 3 till you find the device that causes the crash. If USB-device that causes the crash has been found: Update its drivers. If that doesn't help: leave it unplugged when launching the game.

(Outdated) mods can potentially cause crashes when launching the game.

Stuttering during gameplay

Disable custom radio
Custom radio could potentially cause several issues that are CPU-related. Stuttering is often also CPU-related. See the notes in Adding custom music for a possible workaround.

Change Windows sound quality[citation needed]
Open Start menu, search for "mmsys.cpl" and open it. On the Playback tab, click on your sound card and click on Properties. Click on the Advanced tab and change the default format to the more standard 16bit, 48000hz. Apply and hit OK. Difference is the most noticeable while changing from 24 bit/192 kHz and higher.

Please note that activation itself, resets around every week, and requires Internet connection, along with proper login and password to play offline like before. When the ""Unable to access Rockstar servers. Activation requires Internet connection." error appears, you need to play the game online once again in order to continue playing it (offline) afterwards.

"Dependency MFREADWRITE.DLL is missing. Please reinstall the game" error

The issue is due having installed an N/KN versions of Windows. It has no built-in Media Features Pack, which is required by the game.

Download the Media Features Pack needed for the installed OS
Download the corresponding Media Feature Pack depending on your Windows version. Install the downloaded Media Feature Pack. Restart your PC to complete the installation of the Media Features Pack.

Update Download Issues (Retail Copies Only)

If you are experiencing trouble downloading updates with a retail copy of the game (e.g. repeatedly losing connection, restarting download from scratch etc.) you should use the -verify -noChunkedDownload parameters with the launcher:

Infinite loading of story mode

Delete your saves
Navigate to %userprofile%\documents\Rockstar Games Delete the GTA V folder. Warning: this will delete all your saves of GTA V. Start the game and it should start again.

Story cannot progress with "The mission has been disrupted" message

When trying to start the mission "Monkey Business" a message appears when approaching the mission marker: "The mission has been disrupted, please return later". Returning later or with another character won't make a difference.

Unknown if the cause of this issue was ever fixed through a Title Update for the game.

Call a cab
Navigate away from the mission area until the blip has reappeared on your radar Call the Downtown Cab Company to order a taxi. When the taxi arrives, get in and select the mission as the desired location, making sure to choose to skip the trip. The taxi will deliver you to the mission location and you should be able to proceed from there.

The QuantV has a cooler color theme versus the NVE. If you are looking forward to a more realistic look without all the extra effects this might be the right choice for you.
