God of War is a singleplayer, third-person, ARPG, adventure, action game, featuring action oriented hack and slash gameplay and a strong narrative, made by Santa Monica Studio and published by PlayStation. God of War is a sequel/reboot in the God of War series, and uses a proprietary engine.

God of War was first released on PlayStation 4 on April 20, 2018, and was later released on PC on January 14, 2022. The PC version has several features over the PlayStation 4 version, featuring high frame rate, ultrawide, and high resolution support, although with a few issues such as no anti-aliasing toggle or FoV slider. The launch was considered a success, with the player count reaching a peak that surpassed other PlayStation PC games that have been released.[2]

Issues unresolved

If the error-message is shown when attempting to launch the game, it is possible that the integrated GPU is the cause. This may be resolved by using the experimental - Public Test Build beta branch of the game on Steam, or by disabling the iGPU in the device manager of Windows.[7]
If the error-message occurs after having played the game for some time then it might be related to a possible memory-leak the developers are currently investigating.

Features unavailable

DLSS may be labeled as unsupported on Windows 11. This was fixed in the latest patch[citation needed].

Bad performance on AMD GPUs

AMD GPUs show significant FPS-drops in many locations, regardless of graphics settings and GPU usage percentage. This is observed on Vega 56/64, Radeon 570, 580, 590, 5700XT, 6600XT, 6800XT. Several reports on Steam community forum indicate that both Intel and Ryzen CPU users are affected.[8]
