General information

The Retail version of the game lacks an FPS limiter or Vsync and causes a lot of bugs and physical glitches with frame rates above 60 FPS, although it can be fixed by forcing Vsync from the game's configuration files.

Skip intro videos

Edit ini setting^{[citation needed]}
Go to the installation folder. Open `Freedom.ini`. Change `DefaultScene=FF-Intro.gms` to `DefaultScene=FF-Startup.gms`.

Enable Alt+F4

Edit ini setting^{[citation needed]}

Go to the installation folder.
Open Freedom.ini.
Remove DisableAltF4.

Not necessary for digital versions of the game.

Can't load save games, Initialization error

Delete a file^{[citation needed]}
Disable Steam Cloud via game properties in your library. Locate and delete the `steam_autocloud.vdf` file in the `\Profiles` folder in the game data.

Widescreen resolution

Widescreen fix^{[citation needed]}

Download Widescreen fix by nemesis2000.
Extract ff.7z files to the installation folder (password: ff).
Edit ff.ini to Set the resolution, Letterbox, Subtitles, LOD Distance Multiplier and FOV multiplier.

Notes

Supported exe size: 3 706 880 bytes.

LOD distance can also be adjusted.

Incompatible with digital releases.

Windowed

Set windowed mode^{[citation needed]}
Go to the installation folder. Open `Freedom.ini`. Add a new line: `Window`.

Vertical sync (Vsync)

Set Vsync^{[citation needed]}
Go to the installation folder. Open `Freedom.ini`. Search for the line containing `VSync`. It may not already exist. Set Vsync with either of the following: `EnableVSync` or `DisableVSync`.

Anti-aliasing (AA)

MSAA
Go to the installation folder. Open `Freedom.ini`. Add the line `Antialias 8`. Set Anti-aliasing value to your desired one.

Anisotropic filtering (AF)

Set anisotropic filtering
Go to the installation folder. Open `Freedom.ini`. Add the line `Anisotropy 16`. Set Anisotropic filtering value to your desired one.
