Issues fixed

The DVD won't install/uninstall because of admin rights

Even when you're the admin, the DVD may say the admin did not provide permission to the user to install the game

Run autorun.exe as admin
  1. Insert the disc.
  2. When the computer is done reading the disc, open file explorer, go to This PC, right click on the DVD drive and click Open
  3. Right click on autorun.exe (The icon may look like a golden disc) and select Run as administrator.

When uninstalling the game, the same problem pops up, but the fix above won't work.

Run an uninstaller program

An example is Wise Program Uninstaller. In that case, open that, find FlatOut Ultimate Carnage in the list and select Safe Uninstall. Afterwards, the uninstaller attempts to remove related files and registries.

Game does not start after install

Install Games for Windows Marketplace Client

The Steam version doesn't install the Games For Windows Live redistributable with the game, so it must be installed from elsewhere. Install the Games for Windows Marketplace Client.

This also installs the Games For Windows Live marketplace application, which you can uninstall if you just want to play the game.

Juddery motion despite having a consistent frame rate

Use either 50Hz or 100Hz if your monitor is capable. If using G-Sync/FreeSync, use a third-party tool to cap the frame rate at 50 fps or leave it uncapped for 100 fps. Only leave it uncapped if your PC is capable of delivering 100 fps consistently.

'Could not obtain native display resolution' error when using multiple monitors

Disconnect all secondary monitors and launch the game once. Close the game and reconnect monitors, all subsequent launches should work fine.

Shuttering, non stable FPS

Make launcher.exe and Fouc.exe compatibility with Windows XP Service Pack 3 and launch game from launcher.exe.

Notes

  1. Games for Windows - LIVE DRM features: Legacy activation, supports local profiles.
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/12360/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (12360) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.

References

  1. Verified by User:Tomomimi on 2021-07-02
Confirmed by a user whom has purchased the game through the Publisher website. They provide three bin files containing game data, and a setup exe file that installs those bin files, as well as an outdated version of the GFWL redistributable that's required for the game to launch. No sign of an online key.
