The game automatically pauses when losing focus (excl. movie cutscenes). In this case, the audio is also muted. The auto-pause feature can be removed via the following mod. Mute on lost can also be forced via Special K.
Music can be toggled between the PS2 original in-game BGM, PS2 original soundtrack, and new re-orchestrated BGM.

Issues fixed

Game runs at double speed

Disable VSync[6]

This issue may be caused by having a high refresh rate monitor. Disable Vsync in game. If the game crashes when disabling Vsync, go to Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE\<number>\GameSetting.ini and change VSync=On to VSync=Off

Press F1

The game has an option to run at different speeds by pressing the F1-F3 keys. Press F1 to return to default speed.

Set monitor to 60hz and/or disable G-Sync/Freesync

Performing these fixes has helped many users resolve this issue.

Crash on launch with "A fatal error has occured" (Windows 10)

There are many potential issues causing this error, however this fixes one of them.
Disable high entropy bottom-up ASLR
  1. Open Windows Defender and navigate to: App & Browser Control > Exploit Protection Settings > Program Settings
  2. Click the + button and select "Add by program name". Enter FFXII_TZA.exe
  3. Scroll down to "randomize memory allocations (bottom-up ASLR)" and enable the "override system settings" option. Keep it switched on but make sure that the "Don't use high entropy" option is enabled.
  4. Now the game should launch without this error.
