The command line parameter added in Uplay doesn't work if you run the game directly from FarCry4.exe without added parameter in a shortcut (regular Uplay desktop shortcut works with the command added to Uplay).

Use RoseTheFlower's fix
Download Far Cry 4 ultrawide and wider fix. Unpack the contents. Run the game and load into a level. Launch RunFix.bat and watch the FOV change in real time. This will also unlock the FOV slider.

Use hex editor
Open FC64.dll with a hex editor. Look for 47 23 01 E8 line, which should be present twice. Select the one at offset 0018C650. If it doesn't work, use 0018C250. Change the 01 value to 00.

Disable depth of field

Download and extract the latest version of Gibbed's Dunia 2 Tools; preferably to the root directory of the drive as file paths that are too long may stop the tool from fully extracting the content within DAT files. Open the bin folder in a new window. Go to <path-to-game>\data_win32\. Drag and drop the patch.dat and patch.fat files onto the bin folder, then drag and drop the patch.fat file onto Gibbed.Dunia2.Unpack.exe. Once the file has been unpacked, go to bin\patch_unpack\_UNKNOWN\misc\ and open the 5C8CCADF9D542A47.Profile file with a text editor. Change every instance of GameDepthOfField="1" and CinematicDepthOfField="1" to GameDepthOfField="0" and CinematicDepthOfField="0" and save the file. Drag and drop the patch_unpack folder onto Gibbed.Dunia2.Pack.exe. Once the folder has been packed, move, delete, or rename the original patch.dat and patch.fat files, then rename the newly created patch_unpacked.dat and patch_unpacked.fat files to patch.dat and patch.fat and move them to <path-to-game>\data_win32\.

Increase settings over Max

Increases LOD change distance and removes dithering as well as push out effects to their maximum range and quality.

Edit GamerProfile.xml

Go to the configuration file location. Copy the code from there and paste it into GamerProfile.xml. Change ResolutionX="*" and ResolutionY="*" values to your preferred resolution. Save your changes and set the file as Read-only. Warning: This requires more than 4GB of VRAM and a very powerful GPU. For 1440p60 a 3080 is required; also a CPU with fast single-thread-performance, like a Ryzen 5600X by AMD or a 10900K from Intel.

Minimize mouse acceleration and smoothing effect

The mouse curve was improved in patch 1.5.0.

Disabling acceleration from the menu still leaves some acceleration and smoothing enabled. Disabling all values from the configuration file will only minimize the effect.

Low DPI mice are more susceptible to this issue.

Edit GamerProfile.xml
Go to the configuration file location. Open GamerProfile.xml with a text editor. Locate values MouseAccelerationOn, MouseAcceleration, Smoothness, Smoothness_Ironsight and UseMouseSmooth and change them from 1 to 0. Save your changes.

Toggle aiming down sights (ADS) for weapons

Issues unresolved

Can't steer vehicles when playing on keyboard

This can happen when controller is plugged in.

NVIDIA's GameWorks effects are broken

While using GameWorks effects, game looks overbrightened, lacks shadows and shading on medium and long range objects, fur has layering problems. Also, game suffers from massive framerate drops (around 60-70 FPS).

Low FPS on modern multi-core CPUs

Set CPU affinity[citation needed]

Open the game. Once in-game, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and open Task Manager. Click on the Details tab and find FarCry4.exe. Right-click, select Set affinity. Uncheck CPU0, CPU1 and all odd-numbered cores after that (CPU3, CPU5...) leaving 4 or 5 CPU cores selected (e.g. check CPU2, CPU4, CPU6, CPU8). Confirm with OK and monitor FPS changes in game window. Checking more cores may increase or decrease performance; 4 cores selected seems to be a sweet spot. Notes You can install a program such as Process Lasso to make the affinity permanent.

Freeze when killing a Golden Path member

Enable Karma Points in Interface[citation needed]
In-game, open the settings menu. Go to "Interface". Locate "Karma Points" and make sure it is turned ON. Save your changes.

Fix stuttering

Disable mipmaps
Go to the configuration file location. Open GamerProfile.xml with a text editor. Locate DisableLoadingMip0 and change the value to 1, you may also change the value of GPUMaxBufferedFrames to 1. Save your changes. Lowers texture quality.

Black bars removal for 16:10 & 4:3 aspect ratio

Use fix[citation needed]

Download Fix and extract file to <path-to-game>/bin/. Start Far Cry 4 and load your saved game. Open fc4_blackbars_fix, press "Remove" and wait until it's done. Back to game. You have to follow these steps everytime you launch the game. You need to kill the process in the task manager when you are done with the fix (are done playing). Otherwise it keeps running in the background. If you do not kill the process when done playing, you could get auto-banned by BattleEye and other anticheat software! From 16:9 to 16:10 the image will be simply stretched.

Black screen at launch on dual core CPU systems

Apply dual-core fix

First off, download the required files down below. DLL files Extreme Injector v3.6.1 Do NOT use Xenos64.exe found with the DLL files, as it doesn't work - delete the file. Copy all the files from above to <path-to-game>/bin/. Copy and paste these batch lines into a empty batch file and save it somewhere in <path-to-game>/bin/, I named mine to FarCry4Launcher.bat. Rename the extreme injector executable you just extracted to ei3.exe or adjust the script - it is up to you. Add ei3.exe as an exception in your anti-virus program, or it might pick it up as a riskware. Run Extreme Injector, go to Settings and tick Auto Inject and select OK. Select Add DLL and select dualcore.dll which should be in <path-to-game>/bin/. In Process Name type in FarCry4.exe. Extreme Injector should now be configured correct, you should see a settings.xml which contains the config which you just modified. Enable the following compatibility settings for the ei3.exe file: Run this program as an administrator; and lastly press OK to save your changes. Now try launching the custom batch file, it should automatically start Far Cry 4 and Extreme Injector together and the game will start successfully. You might make a shortcut of the batch file and save it to your desktop. Or see below if you want to add it to your Steam library. Notes You'll have to be a bit quick accepting the UAC prompt everytime you launch the batch file. You may also add the game to Steam, add a non-Steam game and select cmd.exe found in System32 and add the argument /C "<path-to-game>/bin/*your_batch_file*.bat". But your friends will see the game as a non-Steam game.

Crash at launch

The game doesn't tell why it's crashing on launch. Use the Windows Event Log to find the cause.
