Field of view (FOV)

An in-game FOV slider was added in an update and fDefaultWorldFOV edits are no longer necessary.[3]
In-game slider changes world FOV only, viewmodel (1st person weapon) FOV can still be set via ini entry:
Change View-model FOV via Fallout76Custom.ini
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open Fallout76Custom.ini or create it if it does not exist.
  3. Under [Display] add or modify the following parameters to desired FOV:
fDefault1stPersonFOV=XX

Notes

Modifying fDefault1stPersonFOV will also modify the PipBoy's field of view. Fallout 76 features an optional Power Armor style menu that is less affected by this however, accessible via right clicking twice in the Pipboy menu.

Vertical sync (Vsync)

Modify Fallout76Prefs.ini
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open Fallout76Prefs.ini.
  3. Under [Display] change iPresentInterval to 0.

Notes

Disabling vertical sync will unlock framerate from 60 FPS.

Disable Motion Blur

Modify Fallout76Prefs.ini
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open Fallout76Prefs.ini.
  3. Find the following line under [ImageSpace], and set it to this value.
bMBEnable=0

  2. Open Fallout76Custom.ini or create it if it does not exist.
  3. Add or modify the following lines under [Controls]:
fMouseHeadingXScale = 0.021
fMouseHeadingYScale = XX
  1. Where XX replace with:
  • .03738 for 16:9 resolutions
  • .042 for 21:9 resolutions
  • .028 for 4:3 resolutions
  • .0336 for 16:10 resolutions

Notes

Vertical sensitivity may be doubled when character is standing still.

Issues fixed

Icons don't show up in the Atomic Shop [4]

Remove [Archive] section from Fallout76Custom.ini or manually update .ba2 archive list.
This issue is caused by game update files not being loaded when mods are (or have been) present. Each update to Fallout 76 adds additional .ba2 files, which contain new assets, such as the ones found in the Atomic Shop. The list of archives loaded is found in <path-to-game>\Fallout76.ini, but is overridden if an [Archive] section is present in Fallout76Custom.ini, which is the way the mods are most commonly loaded.
  1. Open <path-to-game>\Fallout76.ini in a text editor.
  2. Locate the [Archive] section and the sResourceArchive2List under that.
  3. Copy the entirity of sResourceArchive2List, including sResourceArchive2List =
  4. Open %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Fallout 76\Fallout76Custom.ini in a text editor.
  5. Paste the copied sResourceArchive2List section from <path-to-game>\Fallout76.ini under the [Archive] section of %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Fallout 76\Fallout76Custom.ini.
  6. Append the end of the sResourceArchive2List list with the .ba2 files from any mods.

Note

This process must be repeated every time Fallout 76 updates.

  1. File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/1151340/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (1151340) may differ in some cases.
