Widescreen resolution

Higher resolutions can be set in the registry. Only 4:3 resolutions will have the correct aspect ratio.

For the Steam version, apply the launcher fix.
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\digital image design\Typhoon
Set Preferred Width and Preferred Height in Decimal format.

Notes

Some higher resolutions do not work (the game will instead run at 1024x768). Highest found is 1280x1024

Issues fixed

Launcher does not open (Steam)

Run typhoon_2000.reg^[4]
Go to the installation folder. Run `typhoon_2000.reg` Choose Yes/OK and Yes to confirm making changes to the registry. The launcher should now open correctly.

Most Speech files do not play

System is missing the DSP Group TrueSpeech codec^[5]
Download and install the TrueSpeech codec.

Issues unresolved

Forced Windows 98/ME compatibility mode (Steam)

Upon launching the game, the included `installscript.vdf` will always create a registry entry that forces the game to run in the aforementioned compatibility mode, even when it isn't necessary, possibly making Steam Overlay unusable.
Deleting the registry entry, editing or deleting `installscript.vdf`, or setting any of the aforementioned files to read-only all have no effect. Running the game via `Typhoon.exe` bypasses the forced compatibility mode, and the game can be added as Non-Steam Game in order to play it with the Steam Overlay. Play Time will not be logged.
