eraToho The World, also known eratohoTW or eraTW is a singleplayer text-based role-playing and dating game. The game primarily takes places in Touhou universe, primarily containing characters from said series.

Essential improvements

Most mods are forks of the game due to the lack of native modding support. They are designed to improve the user experience with fan translations, new features and characters, and more. They must be downloaded instead of the main game and may not have version nor feature parity with the main version and are incompatible with any other forks.

Japanese

A significant number of characters are untranslated and require either knowledge of Japanese or a machine translation tool to read their dialogue.

The code uses a significant amount of Japanese and may require knowledge of Japanese to understand. This includes core functions, many variables such as character and global variables, and even the internal names of items, abilities and talents.

Debug Mode

Debug mode can be activated by opening the game by dragging the executable to the Debug Mode (Drag&Drop).bat file (AnonTW only) or by adding -debug to the game's shortcut. Variables can be changed, characters can be added or removed, and #FUNCTION functions can be called from the debug console.

Instead of re-entering console commands every time the game starts, an eraBASIC (.ERB) script file can be created in <path-to-game>\ERB to apply console commands which can be called by calling the function.

Installing on Linux

AnonTW Lutris installer
To install using Lutris, use the AnonTW install script either for x64 (AMD64) or x86 (IA-32) systems. It will automatically install the game and .NET.

Manual Installation[1]

Install wine and winetricks Run WINEARCH=win64 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine64_era winetricks fakejapanese Download the NET 7 Desktop Runtime x64 and install with wine WINEARCH=win64 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine64_era wine windowsdesktop-runtime-7.0.XX-win-x64.exe (Replace XX with the download version) (Optional) Get a copy of msgothic.ttc from a Windows install and paste it into ~/.wine32_era/drive_c/windows/Fonts/. Without the MS Gothic font, the text in the game will look like a mess due to wine using a fallback font. You can alternately use your own monospace font with the game The prefix is ready. Run the game with: DOTNET_ROOT="C:\Program Files\dotnet" WINEARCH=win64 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine64_era wine ./Emuera1824+v18+EMv17+EEvXX.exe (Replace XX with the current version used)
