Field of view (FOV)

This game uses vertical FOV. See FOV Calculator for help.
Set FOV in system.cfg[3]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>
  2. Edit system.cfg
  3. Change cl_fov= and r_DrawNearFov= to the FOV you want.
  4. Save your changes and close the file.

High frame rate

Set FPS cap in console.cfg[citation needed]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\Game2\_FastLoad\
  2. Open startup.pak, look in the Config folder, extract console.cfg.
  3. Open console.cfg and make a new line: sys_maxfps 144
  4. Save console.cfg, drag and drop it back in to the Config folder inside startup.pak.

Notes

Frame rate affects certain in-game mission timers; at high frame rates (above 100 fps or so) some side objectives may fail too quickly to be completed.

Screen effects

Disable screen effects[4]
  1. Open system.cfg <path-to-game>\system.cfg.
  2. Add a new line r_Flares=0
  3. Save the file.

Issues fixed

Game chooses wrong refresh rate

CryEngine 3 may set your monitor's refresh rate to the lowest supported refresh rate; this results in stuttering and poor performance even if internal GPU render shows a high fps.[6]
Override refresh rate set by game[7]
  1. Download 3Dmigoto.
  2. Copy the files in the x32 folder to the installation folder.
  3. Open d3dx.ini.
  4. Change ;refresh_rate=60 to the desired value, and remove the semicolon (e.g. refresh_rate=144).
  5. Change hunting=1 to ;hunting=1 by adding a semicolon.
  6. Save the changes and close the file.
Play the game in DirectX 9[7]
