Field of view (FOV)

Set FOV in system.cfg^[3]
Go to `<path-to-game>` Edit `system.cfg` Change `cl_fov=` and `r_DrawNearFov=` to the FOV you want. Save your changes and close the file.

High frame rate

Set FPS cap in console.cfg^{[citation needed]}

Go to <path-to-game>\Game2\_FastLoad\
Open startup.pak, look in the Config folder, extract console.cfg.
Open console.cfg and make a new line: sys_maxfps 144
Save console.cfg, drag and drop it back in to the Config folder inside startup.pak.

Notes

Frame rate affects certain in-game mission timers; at high frame rates (above 100 fps or so) some side objectives may fail too quickly to be completed.

Add a new line r_Flares=0
Save the file.

Game chooses wrong refresh rate

CryEngine 3 may set your monitor's refresh rate to the lowest supported refresh rate; this results in stuttering and poor performance even if internal GPU render shows a high fps.^[6]

Override refresh rate set by game^[7]
Download 3Dmigoto. Copy the files in the `x32` folder to the installation folder. Open `d3dx.ini`. Change `;refresh_rate=60` to the desired value, and remove the semicolon (e.g. `refresh_rate=144`). Change `hunting=1` to `;hunting=1` by adding a semicolon. Save the changes and close the file.

Play the game in DirectX 9^[7]
