Embr is a cartoon-stylized first-person shooter action game emphasizing comedic and casual physics-based gameplay. Developed by Muse Games, developers of the Guns of Icarus titles, alongside publisher Curve Digital, Embr makes use of the Unity engine. This title also takes full advantage of many Unity 2019 features, such as Vulkan support and Google Stadia cross-play.

The game released on May 21, 2020 through Steam via the Early Access program.[2] This title was also the first game to appear on Google Stadia in an Early Access state.[3][4]

The early access roadmap as of May 20, 2020 indicates that Embr is expected to fully launch within about 12 months of further development. The developers seek to expand on the current gameplay loop and create new content for the game based on feedback from their current version.[5]

Custom resolution

The resolution for fullscreen and borderless windowed mode cannot be manually set. Furthermore, most launch arguments are ignored.
Use windowed mode (workaround)[13]
  1. Select a specific resolution from the in-game list.
  2. Begin the next job in windowed mode.
  3. Press Alt+ Enter in-game to switch to a borderless fullscreen window.

Notes

If entering a job in fullscreen mode, the game will return to desktop resolution. This can be circumvented by returning to Windowed mode before entering or leaving the job.

Crab 'n Go Salvage Mission not recording statistics properly

The Salvage variant of Crab 'n Go (no other variants are affected) will reset the money counter after bringing Clients to the rescue zone.[14]
Reportedly fixed in Update 1.05.[15]

Multiplayer sound effects missing

The developers acknowledged the issue as one to be fixed.[16]

Text chat box always open during multiplayer session

This issue occurs when a multiplayer lobby begins loading while a player is using the text chat box.
Reportedly fixed in Update 1.05.[15]
Close the text chat box before a new mission loads, or quit and rejoin the multiplayer lobby.[17]

Issues fixed

Incorrect coloring and graphical glitches

Use Vulkan rendering (default Steam option, or through the -force-vulkan launch command) instead of DirectX 11[18]
Some specific graphical glitches are still present on certain missions; however, Vulkan rendering reportedly resolves most cases of this issue, although at a slight impact on performance compared to DirectX 11.

Unable to join private lobbies

The "Join Code" option for private lobbies may malfunction in some situations.
Join by IP address instead of join code[19]
The developers have included instructions for port forwarding and direct IP connections on their official FAQ under "I still can't join my friend's match!"
