Creating or backing up custom control bindings

There is only one custom profile by default. To prevent this being overwritten, or to allow for multiple custom input options, create a new copy of the .binds file.
Creating or backing up a custom control bindings file[citation needed]
  1. Set controls in-game as desired
  2. Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings\

  4. The renamed file will now appear as a selectable option in-game.

Notes

  1. File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/359320/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (359320) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
