Easy Anti-Cheat is a middleware designed to detect and counter hacking and cheating in multiplayer games, and has been used in several prominent games. It was created by a company called Kamu and saw its first implementation in 2006. In 2018 both Easy Anti-Cheat as well as its creators was acquired by Epic Games, and in 2021 the middleware was integrated into the Epic Online Services (EOS) suite as a free service. The EOS version is sometimes referred to as "EOS Anti-Cheat" or "EOS Easy Anti-Cheat" to differentiate it from the standalone version.

Known problems

Wine and Proton support was announced, though initially, it required an SDK update and developers to enable it manually.[1] As of January 21, 2022, the process for supporting Linux through Wine and Proton was simplified in that developers no longer had to update the SDK, update the game binaries, or integrate with Epic Online Services, though the developers still need to enable it manually.[2]
