Easy Anti-Cheat is a middleware designed to detect and counter hacking and cheating in multiplayer games, and has been used in several prominent games. It was created by a company called Kamu and saw its first implementation in 2006.
In 2018 both Easy Anti-Cheat as well as its creators was acquired by Epic Games,[5][6] and in 2021 the middleware was integrated into the Epic Online Services (EOS) suite as a free service.
The EOS version is sometimes referred to as "EOS Anti-Cheat" or "EOS Easy Anti-Cheat" to differentiate it from the standalone version.

Known problems
- Wine (and thus Proton) support was originally available on special request by game developers since at least 2017.[7][8] This finally became openly supported in September 2021[4] (with the
linux32/linux64versions superseding the olderwine32/wine64),[9] though it required an SDK update on top of having to manually opt-in.[10] As of January 21, 2022, the deployment process was simplified in that no further change is required to a normal Windows game build.[11] Demanding developers may still decline enabling non-Windows support due to the lower amount of integrity other platforms could guarantee.[12]
