Earth 2140 is a singleplayer and multiplayer bird's-eye view RTS game in the Earth series.
After the game's release in October 1997, two mission packs followed in 1998 which integrated with the main game executable.
There are four major versions of the game: DOS, Amiga, Windows and Windows HD releases.
The DOS version contains the intended gameplay, but digital releases which are pre-packaged with DOSBox contain faulty configurations which prevent the game from correctly launching in most cases.[4] This problem was solved in the Zoom Platform release on August 1, 2023.[3]
The Windows version was contained in the same discs as the main DOS release, but with severely downgraded AI[5] and with multiplayer disabled albeit present in the menus.
The Steam-exclusive HD version is a modified Windows-native version which adds support for high resolutions, yet retains the original's faults.
