If you are on a laptop, make sure your power settings are allowing your computer to run at max settings[1]
Update your graphics drivers, audio drivers, chipset drivers and DirectX[1]
Change process priority for the game to "high" in the task manager[1]
Run the game in compatibility mode[1]
Run the game with administrator privileges[1]
Run the executable directly from the installation folder instead of from the Steam client[1]
