Issues fixed

Low frame rate

Enable timeslice shadow updates[citation needed]
  • Enable timeslice shadow updates for a large frame rate increase with no loss to video quality.

Crash on saving/ exiting buildings/ on loading

Sometimes in particular areas the game may crash when exiting buildings, trying to save or load. Patching the game executable to allow access to 4gb of ram seems to resolve this.

ntcore 4gb .exe patcher

Micro-stuttering on multi-core systems

Multi-core support is broken in that it induces severe stuttering in-game and also on the main-menu.

  1. Disable "Use multi-core" option in the game settings.

Micro-stuttering on Windows Vista/7

Disable desktop composition on launch[citation needed]
May fix micro-stuttering for some
May cause alt-tabbing issues
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\bin\
  2. Right click on Divinity2.exe and choose Properties.
  3. Go to the Compatibility tab and enable Disable desktop composition.
Lower FPS cap to 55fps[citation needed]
  1. Open Divinity 2
  2. Go to advanced graphics options
  3. Enable FPS cap and set to 55fps or ([refresh rate] - 5)fps
Lower mouse polling rate
  1. The game engine drops mouse input if it is too frequent
  2. In your mouse control panel, lower the polling rate to 125Hz
Use an external framerate limiter to run the game at 30 fps[3]
  1. Disable the in-game FPS limiter from the options menu by moving the slider to zero.
  2. Using an external framerate limiter such as RTSS, run the game at 30 fps.
