Vertical sync (Vsync)
60 FPS
120+ FPS
Frame rate is capped at 120 FPS to prevent physics issues.[6] Game presents extreme frame pacing problems at any framerate other than a locked 60 or 120, even with a VRR display. The game struggles to maintain a solid 120 FPS even on very high end hardware as of 2021.
High dynamic range display (HDR)
See the glossary page for potential alternatives.

Field of view (FOV)

Use DLL injection with Cheat Engine[citation needed]
  1. Download Hattiwatti's DLL - works with patch 1.2[6] (exe v1.75.0.7) and patch 1.3 (exe v1.75.0.12).
  2. Download and install Cheat Engine.
  3. Once you have started the game, use the button at the left top in the Cheat Engine window to open the process selector and choose "Dishonored2.exe".
  4. Open the "Memory View" window with the button on the left.
  5. Select "Inject DLL" in the menu "Tools", then select the DLL file you unpacked from the ZIP. Confirm "Execute?" with yes.
  6. You can close Cheat Engine. Mind that you have to inject the DLL whenever you run the game if you want the FOV features.
  7. In the game, use PageUp and PageDown to change the FOV. You can also press Home to toggle HUD objective locators without having to go through the menus.

Subpixel Morphological Anti-aliasing (SMAA)

SMAA anti-aliasing is a low cost solution for eliminating geometry aliasing (and other jagged edges) that looks sharper than FXAA/TXAA and can result in better performance.
Inject SMAA via Reshade with dynamic mask that doesn't affect UI[citation needed]
  1. Disable in-game anti-aliasing.
  2. Download custom Reshade preset.
  3. Copy archive files to <path-to-game>.
This will not counter many types of aliasing, such as "sub-pixel" aliasing and "shimmering".

Issues fixed

Unable to enter Fullscreen

Change value in CFG[citation needed]
  1. Go to %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Arkane Studios\dishonored2\base\.
  2. Open dishonored2Config.cfg with a text editor and look for r_fullscreen.
  3. If present change value from 2 to 1 otherwise add r_fullscreen "1" manually at the end of the file and save.
Disable fullscreen optimizations[8]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>.
  2. Right-click on Dishonored2.exe and click on Properties.
  3. Go to the Compatibility tab and check "Disable fullscreen optimizations".
  4. Click Apply to save the changes.

Mouse sensitivity tied to frame rate

Several users have reported inconsistent mouse movement, specifically when frame rate drops occur
Edit configuration files[9]
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open dishonored2Config.cfg.
  3. Edit g_mouseClamp "360" to 180.
  4. Save the changes.

Unable to invert controller Y axis

Caused by the game recognizing the gamepad as a mouse input due to a Steam setting
Change setting in Steam Big Picture settings[citation needed]
  1. Open Steam Big Picture mode.
  2. Click on the gear in the top right (settings).
  3. Go to Controller Settings.
  4. Uncheck Xbox Configuration Support or PS4 Configuration Support depending on the controller you are using.

Dirty glass effect on screen

Disable Bloom[10]
  1. Open the Options menu from either the main menu or pause menu.
  2. Open Visuals and go to the Quality Settings tab.
  3. Set Bloom to No.
  4. Close the menu and save your settings.

Depth of field re-enabling on its own

Create a keybind to disable DoF[11]
  1. Add arkBind "P" "r_skipDOF 1" to the game's main config file (not in the default keybinds section, but in the custom keybinds section), then press "P" in-game after loading a save.
Add a launch argument[11]
  1. Add "+r_skipDOF 1" to your Steam launch parameters, or to a shortcut for the game's executable.

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/403640/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (403640) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
