Issues fixed

TAA enabled on launch

The game may enable TAA on startup irrespective of the last anti-aliasing setting.
Modify the game executable to force the preferred anti-aliasing method[3]
  1. Open <path-to-game>\ds.exe or <path-to-game>\DeathStranding.exe in a hex editor (e.g. HxD).
  2. Search for 48 8D 8D C8 00 00 00 83 FF 02 0F 46 C7 as hex.
  3. Replace it with:
    • 48 8D 8D C8 00 00 00 83 FF 02 B0 00 90 for no anti-aliasing.
    • 48 8D 8D C8 00 00 00 83 FF 02 B0 01 90 for FXAA.
    • 48 8D 8D C8 00 00 00 83 FF 02 B0 02 90 for TAA (default).
  4. Save the changes.

Corrupted save data

The game does not allow players to share their save data, displaying a "corrupted data" error.
Modify the game executable to bypass the save data checks[4]
  1. Open <path-to-game>\ds.exe or <path-to-game>\DeathStranding.exe in a hex editor (e.g. HxD).
  2. Search for 75 05 41 C6 46 3A 11 48 8D 8D as hex.
  3. Replace it with EB 05 41 C6 46 3A 11 48 8D 8D to bypass the checks.
  4. Save the changes.
  5. Launch Death Stranding and load the game.
On the first launch, a "corrupted data" error may pop up: click "OK" and ignore it. This will only show once.
When the new save data has been loaded and saved, the original executable can be restored.

Notes

  1. When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/1850570/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (1850570) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
  3. Although Digital Foundry believed the level of filtering to be 16x, multiple other reports suggest the value is lower or close to 2x.[citation needed]
