This page is for the remaster of Crysis (2007). For the original release of the game, see Crysis.
Crysis Remastered is a singleplayer FPS developed by Crytek and Saber Interactive. It is a remaster of the original Crysis based on the console versions of the game from 2011, rather than the original PC release from 2007.[2] It is also the first release in the series that is not published by Electronic Arts, instead being self-published by Crytek.
The game uses Crytek's CryEngine, a standard for the series, with improved features such as hardware ray tracing, improved textures and effects and global illumination.[3] A future-proof "Can It Run Crysis" graphics preset is also present, making reference to a phrase that became popular when discussing PC hardware around the original 2007 release, due to how demanding it was.[4]
Crysis Remastered released on September 18, 2020 for Windows exclusively on the Epic Games Store. It was originally set to release on July 23, 2020, but was delayed to allow for further improvement due to negative online feedback following the leak of a gameplay trailer.[5] Due to being based on the console port of Crysis, the level "Ascension" and the entirety of the game's multiplayer are no longer present from the original PC release.[2][6]
Following the release, it was reported by users that the game is missing control options and features; such as leaning, suit shortcuts and manual saving; from the original PC release, due to the remaster using the console port as a base.[7][8]
