The Fanatec Speedster is a racing wheel released by Fanatec in 1998.

A unofficial PlayStation-compatible racing wheel, the Speedster is essentially a version of the Le Mans made specifically for the PlayStation consoles. It has more buttons than the Le Mans SE wheel. The Speedster emulate as a DualShock controller.

The Speedster has a (rather inferior) model in a form of Rally, which lacked the stick shifter and the foot pedals, and has to rely on the steering-mounted analog paddles for brake and acceleration.

Because the Speedster use the proprietary PlayStation controller port, a third-party adapter is needed, and depending on what adapter is used, the wheel can be show up either as a DirectInput device or an XInput device when connected to the PC.

Controller variations

The Speedster is the regular model in the lineup.

The Rally is a model without the foot pedals and sequential shifter, instead it have a pair of steering-mount analog paddles for brake and acceleration.

Use with PC platforms

Depending on the adapter used, the Speedster and Rally wheels will show up as a DirectInput device or an XInput device.

Steam

When use as a generic DirectInput device, Steam cannot recognize the wheel and requiring remapping it via Steam Input.

Support in games

Games with generic DirectInput support are supported by the controller, however button placements may be out of place and need to be rebound. Refer to game-specific articles for rebinding support.
