The free Eyeware Beam beta app turns a Face ID-supported iPhone or iPad, with a built-in TrueDepth camera, into a precise, multi-purpose, six degrees of freedom (6DoF) head and eye tracking device for gaming and live streaming.[1]
Key points
- Does not require any wearables or extra hardware other than an iPhone or iPad that supports Face ID and a Windows PC.
- The iOS app for the phone captures head movements and accompanying Eyeware PC software translates those movements into on-screen actions in games and streams.
- The USB connection reduces CPU usage of the iOS app by 20% and offers a more stable connection in comparison to Wi-Fi.
- OpenTrack is required to enable head tracking in games.
- A phone mount will help to achieve optimal positioning and stability for head and eye tracking.
- The eye tracker overlay bubble does not control gameplay as head tracking does.
- No Android or webcam support is available.
- Head and eye tracking will not work unless the Eyeware Beam iOS app is open on the iPhone or iPad at all times when in use.
- The quality of the head and eye tracking is affected by external factors. You must always re-start calibration any time a condition changes.
General information
Features
Head Tracking
Six degrees of freedom head movement (Pitch, Yaw, Roll, X, Y, and Z) and eye movement captured via user-facing iOS TrueDepth camera technology to enable remote real-time tracking.
A PC software counterpart paired with the phone lets user stream their gaze or play simulator games that support head tracking.
Eliminates headsets, glasses, and webcams with wearables-free head and eye tracking.
Eye Tracking
Eye tracker overlay allows users to broadcast in real-time a circle indicating where the user's gaze is focused.
Live streamers and esports gamers can show their audience in real-time how they focus their attention, aim in FPS games, and analyze their gameplay.[2]
