Issues fixed

Various fixes can be found in the Steam Users' Forum FAQ by the developer.

DPI scaling issues and blurry, pixelated visuals

If a DPI scaling setting higher than "100%" is selected in Windows, the game can look blurry or may be too large to properly fit the screen.
Change the "high DPI settings" of the game executable[citation needed]
  1. Find the game executable Bastion.exe on your system.
  2. Right-click the executable, then select Properties.
  3. Switch to the Compatibility tab and click on Change high DPI settings, under "Settings".
  4. On the new window, under "High DPI scaling override", activate the checkbox: [✓].
  5. Select Application from the dropdown menu and confirm with OK.
  6. Click Apply, then OK on the Properties window.
  7. Launch the game.

To revert the changes, deactivate or unselect the checkbox mentioned above ( [ ] ) and apply the changes made.

Low FPS on Windows 10

After updating to Windows 10, reaching 60 FPS is impossible even on good hardware.
Configure launch options[citation needed]
  1. Find Bastion in your Steam Library
  2. Right-click the game's title
  3. Select Properties
  4. Select Set Launch Options...
  5. Input -nofixedstep This will unlock your framerate and allow you to run the game smoothly.
  6. Press OK
  7. Launch the game.
  8. Ensure Vertical Sync is On in-game (an unlocked framerate breaks the game).

Lost savegames

When starting the game, all or some save games are missing.[3]
Move saves to a new location[3]
  1. Search all the save game data locations and find the most recent ones.
  2. Copy these most recent Saves to all the other save game data locations. You may have to create some which are missing (Make sure you only create ones that are relevant to your operating system!)
  3. Now your save games should appear again the next time you launch the game.

Game crashes during launch on Windows 10 (Steam Fix)

When you launch the game it immediately crashes after launching.
Opt into Legacy Beta on Steam[4]
  1. Right click Bastion in Steam Library -> Properties
  2. Select the 'Betas' tab
  3. Select 'legacy' branch
  4. Click Close button. Your game will now re-download and should launch correctly

Game crashes during launch

When you launch the game it goes through the intro screens and then crashes before you are able to do anything.
Close the MSI Afterburner overlay[citation needed]
  1. In the taskbar, right click on MSI Afterburner and click Close.
  2. You may need to click show hidden icons to see the icon.
  3. Other overlays such as Mumble or Fraps may apparently cause the same issue, so try disabling those as well.
