Video
- This game uses vertical FOV. See FOV Calculator for help.
- FOV can be increased to 85 before severe recoil problems kick in (as mentioned below).
- FOV above 85º will cause the hip fire recoil problems, along with causing the first aimed shot to always miss.
- Field of View value is tied to how the game calculates hip fire recoil. Setting FOV too high will cause drastically increased recoil, as indicated by an expanded crosshair.[4]
Edit default_levels.xml[5]
|
- Open
<path-to-game>\DI\Data0.pak with 7-Zip.
- Inside
Data0.pak , navigate to data\skills and open default_levels.xml .
- Find
CameraDefaultFOV and replace 62.5 with the desired FOV.
- Save. If 7-Zip asks if the user wants to update the file in the archive, click Yes.
|

- Install Borderless Gaming and run it alongside the game.
- In the app, right-click Dead Island and select Add to Favorites by the process binary name.
- Under Favorites, right-click DeadIslandGame and disable Auto-Maximize.
- Turn off Fullscreen in the game options.

Remove Chromatic Aberration
- Has to be modded out because the setting in the Options menu doesn't fully disable Chromatic Aberration.
- This new method does not cause any artifacts like the previous method.
